Hi everyone,

I need a fingering for C# minor chord, mainly for progressing in E --

I - iv - IV - V - I for example.

A C# m chord that is easy to move from the basic E, A, B (B7) chords is confusing this newbie.

Anyone help?????? :?

Thanks
Bert

In the key of E, you can often substitute C#m7 for C#m without losing anything. Since C#m7 has both E and B notes in it, it's easy to play like this:

E - open
B - open
G - sixth fret
D - sixth fret
A - fourth fret
E - don't play

Hope this helps.

Peace

If you're playing open position, you could try this:

0
2
1
2
x
x

It's the same as the open A maj 7, but without the A note. A lot of chords are closely related... C#m = C#-E-G#; Amaj7 = A-C#-E-G#. If you're going to stay on the chord for a while, you'll probably want to use a form like either of the two above - so you get the C# in the bass - but for a quick transition, this might be easier (or even just the substitution of an Amaj7 for C#m!)
