I hope this is the right place and apologize if I am off-track.

My husband and I both play guitar but he plays by ear, instead of reading music or tab. He is working on 'Sweet Home Alabama' but parts of it keep sounding off. I hunted down the tab for it, but we still get places where it just sounds off. Does anyone know if it is played in standard tuning or open? If it's open, does anyone know what we need to tune to?

Thanks!

It's in standard tuning. What part sounds off?

There's a tab for "Sweet Home Alabama" in the Easy Song Database"...

Perhaps you could learn it and pass your knowledge on to your husband?

:D :D :D

If you have the powertab editor, you can get a tab by clicking here

If not, just follow the link at the left hand side of the page to download it (it's free).

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Wow, you guys work fast.

I played through the intro on the tab Vic put up. I am usually no great shakes at reading it (I do better with sheet music) but yours was easy to read and on my guitar it sounds fine. On my husband's guitar it still sounds all mushy. It is in tune so maybe he just needs new strings.

Thanks again!

If it's stuff farther down the neck and only on his guitar he might have a problem with innotation. Have him play the wonky part on your guitar and see if it's him or his axe. If he plays it on yours and it sounds fine but won't on his I would bet that's it.

Innotation is easy to adjust on electrics, here's an article.
