Ok, so I have the green day guitar songbook and I am haveing trouble understanding the tab in it. It's the American Idiot song, (and songbook)
and I was wondering what things like: w/rhy. fig. 1, or count. rhy. simile, or resume chorus fig. simile.

I would really appreciate some help, thanks. 8) :D

I didn't state that correctly, what I meant to say was that I DON't know what these things listed above mean I'm supposed to do, and I REALLY need help.

please

I think I can clear some of this up. In songbooks, they're use rhythm and lead "Figures" for each part of the song. Since you're using green day, I'll use their names. Say Billy Joe plays the same riff repeatedly for say 8 bars. Instead of tabbing the pattern out 8 times, they're name it "ryh figure 1(2, 3, etc)" and say play that figure.

the "chorus figure" is the tab for the chorus. If is says resume chorus figure, then switch into that and play that series.

Count is most likely the timing that the piece is in (ex. 4/4 3/4 6/8). Maybe, Im not sure though.

similie....well, I have no idea on that. I know what the word means, but Im not sure what it would mean in this context.

Hope that helped a little bit. Or I just confused you more. Either way...

Simile means "continue in the same way," so just apply whatever picking pattern you've been using to the notes that follow.

To each his own is fair enough.

I still love the quote from Johnny Greenwood (radiohead) about his stolen guitar...(paraphrased)

"Im not into that whole worship your instrument thing, but I loved that guitar. Now its going to end its days working out green day riffs or something. It's such a shame."
