I currently take guitar lessons at this one place but my teacher is horrible. I've been taking lessons at their place for almost 5 months and I can't even read chords. I'm sick of it. He's wasting my time and my parent's money. I really love playing guitar. I need a better teacher. I have the devotion to play guitar, its not that I'm lazy and don't play which is why I'm going so slowly. Can you give me a specific website(s) to the guitar teachers please?

well, youtube has lots of video lessons. you could simple go to youtube.com and type in guitar lessons.

it is too bad the teacher is not working out. knowing the names of some chords is pretty basic at five months.
is it possible you missed understood the chord lesson?
talk to other students if possible and ask about their teacher. a few more lessons from a better instructor could go a long way.

The lessons on this site are excellent value and top quality. Check them out from the Home Page.

If you can give us a general location as to where you are (or where you want to take lessons), some might be able to make personal recommendations. There are many search engines for guitar teachers, such as http://www.musicstaff.com , that also may be of help to you. Recommendations from friends are almost always a good way to go.

Peace

best thing to do is to look at craigslist because a lot of guitar teachers in your area will likely advertise there, also if you have a guitar or music store near you they usually have notices up or periodicals with advertising in them... good luck, blackdiamond13 @ Jemsite

I'm a self taught guitarist. I read books, watched other people, and just in general played around on it until I got the the point I'm at now(Which is Spiritedly Mediocre). You make mistakes along the way(guitar-stringing was my weakness for a while), but you learn. I've had my guitar for a year and some change, and it's one of the best things I've ever done

I may get in trouble posting the last link because of the cross forum rule ....

It's been a while since I signed up but is there a rule for that? I found out about THIS forum originally from a link on another one.

Not a rule for us. At least not that I know of. Nick occasionally makes some strange mandates, but nothing along those lines...

Peace

The only rule that exists here is to keep it guitar or music related.
