Just started playing last night and I've just been doing a scale and some chords and today I was tuning the guitar with an electronic tuner and I'm not really sure what happened but now two of the strings are very, very loose. They are loose, but not broken. Should I replace them, or is there a way to tighten them, or...? Sorry, I'm a complete newbie to guitars and instruments in general.

You may have them tuned an octave too low. Try turning them down to start then back up slowly watching the tuner closely until it get to the right tune level.

+1 on that.

Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.

A way to check that (if you are an octave too low)
Depending on what strings are loose.
Harmonic tuning.
Fret the low E string at the 5th fret, it should sound the same as the open A string.
A string 5th fret is the same as D string open.
D string 5th fret = G string
G string 4th fret = B string
B string 5th fret = high E string
(assuming standard tuning.)
You should be able to hear if you are an octave low on a string this way.

That's not harmonic tuning (i.e., tuning to harmonics of the other strings), which a lot of folks like to do for some odd reason. It's just tuning the guitar to itself.

I wrote an article that may help you

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?
