Hey board,

I can strum the song okay, but can't get it just right IMHO. Any advice for this one?
Apparently there is a variety of blues strumming in there.

Namaste.

As I see it, you have three options.

1. Practice more. Slow down the song and listen to it closer. Try to transcribe the rhythm.
2. Buy the tablature, it should have the rhythm notated for you.
3. Decide that if people want to hear the song the way it was recorded, they may as well listen to the CD. Make up your own pattern.

Good luck.

Which version or, better put, who are you trying to cover?

A CCR cover is at the following URL

A Guitar Workshop lesson can be found at

There's a lot of discussion but he does show how he plays it

Thanks for the input guys! Actually, my own way of strumming it works just fine (my singing is another matter altogether...ha); I was wondering what the actual pattern was in CCR's version. That being said I've heard of software one can
download to slow songs down for such purposes. I'll see if I can track that down.

Cheers!

PS- John Fogerty rocks. Just thought I'd throw that out there. 8) His new album Revival is sweet.

Namaste.

well i think i got the official tab home, must check it!
anyway if i remember the song correctly, it is definitely played with a triplets feel so an excellent pattern could be the following one

1: root bass note of the chord (i.e d for D chord)
2: du
3: alternate bass note
4 d or also du as you wish

What it is really important is to play the eight notes with triplets feel not straight as in rock

There are many different options.

One that I use is Winamp with the Pacemaker plugin.
Another more powerful program that I also use for slowing songs down (and a lot more) is Audacity, which is also a good multitrack recording and general audio editing program.

All of the above are free.
