For the love of God, I've pretty much looked everywhere(on the net), and all I get is "this has four beats" and "this means a beat here!"
All I've been able to figure out about them is that they have somethhing to do with tapping your foot.
Call me a fool if you like, I won't learn anything 'till somebody tells me.
-_-
Jamey Andreas defines beat as "a unit of time"!
So when you tap your foot, the time elapsed between the foot going up and down is one beat.

Thanks. :)
So...How long is this "unit of time?" 1 second? 2? Do I just start tapping my foot and guess?
[edit]: Woah...I totaly mis-read your post...
My mind is going. :(

I don't think I would have been able to explain it in such few words. Well done.
You decide on how long the unit of time is.
Listen to a song...Find yourself tapping your foot at a steady rate? (if you say no, this becomes harder to explain..lol)
If you did say no, I recomend this, go buy a metronome. Set it to any setting, that is a beat.
Alright, I finally get it.
Thank you for the help...
So...time for me to go break my Fender...
