One thing that you might find actually hinders your progress is trying to see things in such a black and white way. For instance, if someone had asked me 3 years ago what I would have wanted to achieve by now I probably would have said
* being able to play open AND barre chords
* have a basic grasp of theory
* play a couple of different styles.
Now, here i am 3 years later. Barre chords are still driving me mad. My theory knowledge is bordering on non existant. i guess i can play a couple of styles though.
BUT I AM HAPPY with where i am - because i have picked up other things along the way. There's no way I thought that I would be able to Travis pick or play authentic renditions of Paul Simon songs, no way.
I agree with Big Bro. Learn plenty of chords, and take time to learn some of the fretboard. And I agree with everyone who has mentioned keeping time - this is extremely underated. Buy a metronome NOW!
Most of all, enjoy it, that's what i am trying to say, you might not achieve some of your goals but don't let that take away the great feeling you will get from playing this great instrument.
