Let me give you a perception from personal experience.

I've been wanting an LP for some time. (years)

I had my eye on a low-mid priced Gibson. I just wasn't impressed with the colors or combination of hardware/appearance so I held off. I started noticing an EPI LP Deluxe that was $600. MF had it go clearance for $400. I quickly snatched one up and have had it now for two weeks. I haven't been able to put it down. It's way awesome. The sounds it generates ( and I tried it with several "gig ready" amps ) to get a feel for it. My guitarist in my band also took it for a spin. Now he wants one and he owns a vintage '72 Gibson Les Paul that he inherited from his father after his passing. He said mine was a keeper.

My guitar teacher who is almost snobbish about guitars gave a nice rave review, also. Heck, I didn't know. This was my first time with an LP of any flavor. I wanted to be sure that seasoned guitarists had some time with it before I decided to keep or return it. No setup was necessary other than some intonation issues that Nils' web site help me iron out.

All in all, my experience with EPI was very positive. Plus, I'd ordered the LP (the Schecter, the Strat, and the Washburn bass) all from MF and have yet to have a bad buying experience with them.

On a side note, I just got a new Fender Tele last night for my birthday and well, the LP is in the case for a while, I'm thinking. :D

I did buy this Tele locally. It's the same place I buy my drums from and felt I should give them a piece of the action. I did get to try it out for the entire weekend before commiting but after playing it last night, I'm keeping her. Oh, such action and range of quality tones...wow!!!

I have my heart set on a Flying V Goth series so I'm going to hunt one down. They are sharp, light weight and one of my guitar heroes uses one. I know how it sounds is more important but I have to like how it looks or I won't enjoy playing it. Unfortunately for me, I don't have much money, so when I do get the money for my next guitar (or get one for christmas/birthday) I'll have to live with whatever I buy for a while, so I am putting a lot of research and thought into this and won't settle for something I'm 100% happy playing because whatever I chose, I'll have to live with the decision for a while.

The biggest factors for me are what the body, fingerboard and neck are made of. Is it durable, will it stay in tune and does it sound good when played clean and dirty? From what I hear, the Flying V Goths have decent pickups but if I really don't like them, I can have them changed. The store I buy it at might even do it for me.

OWA, the pickups will be another whole new adventure in research and shopping. :)

one wing. you have the right idea. as I said, it's an emotional thing. that feeling will have you wanting to play more often.
of course it is important to do the research; finding out just what is inside the guitar, size of frets, etc.

and some things can be changed out to improve the guitar.

bottom line is the shape. attitude is everything.

I hope you get that Flying V.

imagine, it could be absolutely perfect.

and later you could put some awesome humbuckers in there too.

I have a small collection of guitar review mags. next time I flip thru them I will look for info on that guitar and forward wwhat I find to you.

Sounds like a plan :D Just one more thing, when you get your axe, invest $30.00 in a good set up from a knowledgeable guitar tech--Its money well spent!!!( many stores will provide this anyway) good luck and have fun in your search!! --the dog

Thank you for all your advice everyone. I have another question. *is sorry for all the questions* But one of my guitar heroes that plays a Goth Series V actually has triple humbuckers. It could be that I'm misinterpreting the pic, so here it is:

What's the purpose behind having triple humbuckers?

Your url is broken I Can't actually see the pic. Triple 'Bucks will just give you more sound choices(I.E. different sounds) not unlike three single coils.
