Hi everyone,
I have been reading through the wish you were here intro solo lesson by david and i noticed that he says to fret strings other than the ones being 'fretted' by the slide. Does this imply that one might slide a finger over a number of frets? That is, sliding over 2 frets would result in 3 separate sounds on that string, while other strings may be seemlessly fretted by the slide? A confusing question with a simple answer Ill bet.....

Flintstone, I looked around and hunted up that lesson. I don't believe David intended the use of a slide at all, but was speaking of sliding the fingers from one fret to another while holding the string down. Yes, that does make an incremental shift in the pitch rather than the smooth continuous change you get with a slide. It's another technique that's good to know, and often used.
