the part you refer to is simple. he is sliding forcibly down the sixth string after plucking it. while doing so he is hitting the killswitch constantly in a stacatto manner. sounds like a wacked out classic surf descent.' wipe out'.
I had an amp that shorted often. it made my guitar sound like a killswitch.
it sucked.

the equipment aspect: it's all about gain -- not volume, but gain. if you have a Cube 30x, choose one of the high gain amp models (one where the gain knob really changes tone to be uber-disorted). on the Cube 30 (what I own, no "x"), that is probably one of the Classic Stack, Metal or Rectifier models. turn up the gain, and adjust the volume as needed for overall loudness. with the gain cranked, you will find that every slight touch or noise made by the guitar is amplified to distort levels.

tapping technique: most new players get the tap (hammer-on) part of it. but pull-off requires actually snagging the string with the tip of the finger as you remove that finger to sort of "pluck" the string.

-=tension & release=-

Now I'm thinkin' to myself . . .
if I had a kill switch for my car . . .
and I started merrily tapping it going down the turnpike at 70+ miles/hour . . .
in beat to the music on the CD player . . .
how would that effect my mpg average . . .
and could my cruise control compensate for that?

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Hey, while on the subject of tapping, can anyone tell me how to implement this into a solo, cause I know how to do it but I think it sounds lame, a video perhaps of somebody using it so I can do that and build on it ?

if you think it sounds lame, don't use it. That's my best advice.
