Can someone give me a link on the lead part for tears in heaven? I already know the rhythm, and want a friend to play the lead.

I'm not really sure what you mean... The rhythm really is the lead in that song.

But

There is an amazing power tab version of it... http://www.powertabs.net/pta.php?page=song,2115 Around 60 people saying its perfect. Should help you out.

Guys

I have numerous tabs save in zipped format now. But no amount of swearing and tearing my hair out will turn them into something I can read / see.

Please can someone post a real "Idiots Guide to Powertab" on here, from how you download the programs, the lot.

I have read so many threads about this but am nowhere near being able to do it.

So please MAKE IT SIMPLE

Imagine you are writing for your 5 year old.

If not younger...

thanks!!!! thanks!!!

Matt

Idiots Guide to WinZip + PowerTab

First of all, you're gonna need WinZip to decompress the .zip files into .ptb files, which PowerTab can read.

Getting WinZip

Just go to http://www.download.com/3405-20-960683.html and your download should start. Once it's done, double-click the .exe file to begin intalling the program. It's been a while since I've installed WinZip, but It should be simple enough that someone who is, oh, I dunno, 5 years old or so could figure it out .

Un-zipping your PowerTabs

Once WinZip's installed, just double-click on the .zip file, and WinZip should start. Click on "Use Evaluation Version" then "Extract," then type the name of the folder into the "Extract to:" box (ie: C:PowerTabs) and click "Extract." Ta-da! It's now a .ptb PowerTab file.

Getting the PowerTab Program

Next, you'll need the actual PowerTab program to see/listen to the PowerTabs. Go to http://rhythm.harmony-central.com/~ftp/software/windows/guitar-bass/powertab.zip
(You'll need to un-zip that in the same way you unzipped the Powertabs) Run the .exe file that was unzipped, and follow the instructions on screen to install the program.

Using PowerTab

Now, run the program from wherever you installed it (I believe the default directory is C:Program FilesPT SoftwarePT Editor. Run "PTEditor.exe")
Now click "File" (in the upper-left corner of the screen) then "Open" and find the folder where you unzipped you PowerTab(s) and double-click the one you want to watch/hear. Use the Play, pause, and stop buttons to navigate the tab. Aaaand, I think thats it, acctually :).

Well, I hope that helped, last time I tried to help someone with a program over a message board he didn't understand it, and I had to make a web page with step-by-step pictures and about 5 pages of text, and he still didn't get it :x.

(Btw, should I make this a topic?)

Ok, either way, check out that link that I gave you for the tab. It's damn near perfect.
