Hi again guys!

Has anyone noticed I only come here when I want something!!

Anyway, here goes....

Does anyone know the CORRECT chords and bass intro to Johnny Cash's walk the line?? This is doing my head in :(

I've searched on the web, and it looks like the chords are A, E7 with a D thrown in. I've found several intro versions, but when listening and playing along with the song, none of them sound quite right.

I just know someone, somewhere out there knows the ACCURATE way of playing this song - 'cos you lot ain't half clever (creep creep).

Any help with this is - as always- very much appreciated. Thanks Guys (and girls!)

The way I play it, it goes E, A, then D, with an alternating 6th string-whole chord-5th string-whole chord pattern, and then F#-G# up to A, the pattern again, then B-C# up to D.

Scroll down to Jonnyt'S post on this thread http://forums.guitarnoise.com/viewtopic.php?t=573&highlight=cash

It is a good tab as far as I can tell and some good notes on how to play it

if you want the real thing check out a cool DVD I discovered.
it's straight out of the 50's.
Tex Ritter Rockin Ranch Party.
you can get it from Stompertime Records in the UK.

on this DVD is a young Johnny Cash...and I mean young. he is backed by a standup bass and the original guitar player of that lick...Luther Perkins (brother of Carl Perkins).

the DVD is also loaded with many other 50s cowboy swing and early rockers...an interesting time in music history.

thanks for the tip and link Robbie. Most helpful. And the way JohnnyT has tabbed it is very accurate. I'm on my way to playing it now.

Once again, Thankyou :)
