I am looking for some easy songs to break up the songs I'm working on with my teaacher. For a variety of reasons, nothing on the guitarnosie lessons particularily interestes me. If you could help I'd be very thankful. Only a couple of requirnments: doable on acoustic, sound decent without vocal tracks, not anything too basic, but nothing someone who's been playing around with a guitar for over a year but sounds like it's been less than three months couldn't handle thanks :)

Some of my favorites..

Beatles..Michelle

CCR...Down on the corner

Gordon Lightfoot..Did She Mention my Name

Gershwin...Summertime

Mel Tillis...Hold me Thrill Me

Dock of The Bay..Otis Redding did the original I think

What a day for a Daydream...Lovin' Spoonful???

What a Wonderful World...I'm not sure who wrote that one

There's so many more and I'm sure others will give lots more suggestions

Thanks, do you happen to have a good decent tab or strumming pattern for Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay? It's a bit difficult for me to figuare out.

Here's the way I play it...Try it and see what you think. The strum pattern can be as simple as down strums on the beat or fancier if you like. Once you get comfortable with it you'll figure it out.

(SITTIN' ON) THE DOCK OF THE BAY

G B7
Sittin' in the mornin' sun
C A
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
G B7
Watching the ships roll in
C A
And then I watch 'em roll away again
G E
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
G E
Watching the tide roll away
G A
I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay

G -E
Wastin' time

I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the 'Frisco bay
I've had nothing to live for
Look like nothin's gonna come my way

So I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time
G D C
Look like nothing's gonna change
G D C
Everything still remains the same
G D C
I can't do what ten people tell me to do

F D
So I guess I'll remain the same

Sittin' here resting my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's two thousand miles I roamed
Just to make this dock my home
Now, I'm sittin' at the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Oooo, sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time

dhodge also has a lesson for this song on the site..Its somewhat different than the way I have it here..Try both and decide which one is better for you

OK...I just noticed that the spacing showing the chords is way off in my post....Can someone tell me how to fix it? or even repost with the correct spacing...Sorry about that..

Mind you if you start playing the song the changes will be very easy to place.

Surround the chords and lyrics with the code option when you are editing the message

David did a lesson with this song back in March of '03. Find it here:

Just a tad confused in that none of the lessons here appealed but the one you picked out to get the tab to is one of the lessons.....

Why don't you tell us who you are looking for?

Sorry about that, and actually I'll get around to looking at them all. The thing was when I saw the lesson title I confused it with another song by the artist, which I dsliked. Anyways I started donloading some songs, listened to the Otis song, and became immediately, although possibly temporarily infatuated with it.
