I don't know if many people know this song... but it is really great!!! It's from her "She Hangs Brightly" album... (although i think it's a cover?) anyway.... you can listen to a bit of it here if you don't know it.... Blue Fower

I'm sure it would be great on an electric guitar but i'm playing it on an acoustic with a DUDU/UDU strumming pattern which has that kind of "country swing" feel to it which i think suits an acoustic version of this song...

I've been playing the first verse only with just one down strum on each chord... as a kind of intro... and then really swinging it for the rest of the song until i get to the chorus bit "D But I'm no fool, G I know you're cool, A I never really wanted your heart" where i've gone back to one down strum only... for dramatic effect  for the D and G and straight up and down strumming a few times for the A... :D But you can do what you like with it!

all the measures (i'm getting the lingo now  ) are played once except for the G where i've indicated...

right i'll shut up now and let you get on :D

VERSE 1

D G
Waiting for a sign from you
D G
Waiting for the signal to change
D G
Have you forgotten what your love can do?
D G
Is this the end?

VERSE 2

D G
Walking thru the city
D G
Your boots are high-heeled and a-shining bright
D G(x2)
The sun was sparking on the shaft of your knife
D
Flower in morning rain
G
Dying in my hand
D G
Was it all in vain?

CHORUS

E G
Superstar in your own private movie
D G
I wanted just a minor part
D
But I'm no fool
G
I know you're cool
A
I never really wanted your heart

VERSE 3
You're the keeper of the key
Nothing seems to bring you down
It's not that cool when I'm around
Flower in morning rain
Dying in my hand
Was it all in vain?

CHORUS
Superstar in your own private movie
I wanted just a minor part
But I'm no fool
I know you're cool
I never really wanted your heart

End: D,G

yes i'm confused and probably out of date... does "mazzy star" still exist? Or is she now just Hope?

Last I heard it was "Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions." Been a while since they've recorded though.

I recently read there's a Mazzy Star DVD in the works. Not sure when it's expected to be out.

They are a fairly obscure band, but many people recognize "Fade Into You" when they hear it. And Sopranos fans might recall "Look On Down From the Bridge" from one episode.

They really had some good music!
