Brass in Pocket acoustic version
The Pretenders

This is such a great song.... however I don´t think I can explain the stumming pattern in words or diagrams. Unless anyone else can, the best thing to do is listen to the song (which is the acoustic version) and just copy!!! It´s really easy, I guarentee it

Chords: EADgbe
A ..........x02220
Asus2....x02200
Asus4....x02230
D...........xx0232
E6..........022120
E............022100
Esus4.....022200
Asus........x00230

(Verse 1)
(A, Asus2)Got brass (Asus4, A)in pocket
(A, Asus2)Got bottle (Asus4, A)Im gonna use it
(A, Asus2)Intention (Asus4, A)I feel inventive
(D)Gonna make you, make you, (E)make you notice

(A, Asus2)Got motion (Asus4, A)restrained emotion
(A, Asus2)Been driving (Asus4, A)detroit leaning
(A, Asus2)No reason (Asus4, A)just seems so pleasing
(D)Gonna make you, make you, (E)make you notice

(chorus)
(Part 1)
(E6, E)Gonna use my arms
(Esus4, E)Gonna use my legs
(E6, E)Gonna use my style
(Esus4, E)Gonna use my sidestep
(E6, E)Gonna use my fingers
(Esus4, E)Gonna use my, my, my imagination

(Part2)
(A, Asus2)Cause I gonna make you(Asus4, A) see
(A, Asus2)Theres nobody else here
(Asus4, A)No one like me
(Asus)Im special so special
(Asus2)I gotta have some of your attention give it to me

(Verse 2)
(A, Asus2)Got rhythm (Asus4, A)I cant miss a beat
(A, Asus2)Got new skank (Asus4, A)its so reet
(A, Asus2)Got something (Asus4, A)Im winking at you
(D)Gonna make you, make you, (E)make you notice

(chorus)
(Do chorus part 2 twice)

(A, Asus2) (Asus4, A) ...repeat to until you want to finish!!!

Great post Zep! Welcome to the ESD. I look forward to seeing more posts like this from you  If you have a 2nd guitar player, or wish simply to alternate a different voicing, try this:

A: 0076500
Asus2: 0076000
Asus4: 0077650

Simply a matter of raising/replacing the index finger and pinky. Sounds cool with either voicing, and really cool with both!

Again, good job. This is one of my favorite songs. See ya' around the forum!

Yeah, my 7-string sounds great but the bar chords are tough!! :D Yikes! My bad!! The correct voicing is:

A: x07650
Asus2: x07600
Asus4: x07750

BTW, it's amazing how many great songs use different strumming patterns of these chords to produce a memorable sound: Brass in Pocket, Needles and Pins, Feel A Whole Lot Better (Byrds), etc.

Thanks Ballybiker for the friendly "heads-up".
