The keys to this song are (1) strum chords only where they appear in the verses; (2) emphasize the upstrokes in the chorus; and (3) change to a rapid strum in the Bridge section. Uses simple version of Am7 (x02010) and E7 (020100).

Wait - The Beatles

Verse 1: (Play Chords Only Where They Appear)

Am7 D
It's been a long time
Dm Am E7 Am
Now I'm . . . coming back home
Am7 D
I've been a-way now
Dm Am E7 Am
Oh how . . . I've been a-lone

Chorus: (C/F Strum: D D U UDU; then steady strum)

C F C F C F
Wait. . . till I come back to your side
F C E7 Am
We'll for-get the tears we cried

Verse 2: (Play Chords Only Where They Appear)

Am7 D
But if your heart breaks
Dm Am E7 Am
Don't wait . . . turn me a-way
Am7 D
And if your heart's strong
Dm Am E7 Am
Hold on . . . I won't de-lay

Repeat Chorus

Bridge: (Rapid downstrums)

D7 G
I feel as though . . . you ought to know
C Am
That I've been good . . . as good as I can be
D7 G
And if you do . . . I'll trust in you
C Am E
And know that you . . . will wait for me

Repeat Verse 1

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Bridge

Repeat Verse 2

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Verse 1

End with Am arpeggio on "alone", followed by three notes:

e|-----------|-------------|
B|-------1---|-------------|
G|-----2-----|-------------|
D|---2-------|--2----------|
A|-0---------|------3---0--|
E|-----------|-------------|
(alone)

Hey shug,

Another great song from Rubber Soul, what an album that was eh!.

An interesting one to learn me thinks! especially from the timing point of view.

Wish I owned an electric to do it full justice though and maybe a bass too. Dream on Chris

Keep em coming shug!

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
