One more easy Eagles song for you all. This was the first song I was able to strum when I started guitar a year ago.
-----------G--------------------------------------------
Well I'm a runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
--------------------------D-----C
I've got seven women on my mind
G----------------------------D--------------------------
Four that wanna own me, two that wanna stone me
C-----------------------------G--
One says she's a friend of mine
--------Em------------C G
Take it easy, take it easy
--------------Am-------------------C------------------Em
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
------------C---------------G
Lighten up while you still can
-------------C---------------G
Don't even try to understand
------------Am-----------------C-------------------G
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
------------G---------------------------------------------
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
--------------D--------C
Such a fine sight to see
-------G--------------D----------------
It's a girl my lord in a flat-bed Ford
---------C------------------------G--
Slowin' down to take a look at me
------------Em---------------C G--
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
--------Am---------------------C-------------Em-----
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
------------C---------------G-------------C-------------G----
We may lose and we may win, though we may never be here again
----------Am-----------------C----------G---
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
------------G---------------------------------------------
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
--------------------------D-----C
Got a world of trouble on my mind
G--------------------D-----------------------------C----------------G---
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
--------Em-------------C G
Take it easy, take it easy
---------------Am------------------C-------------------Em---
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
--------C G-------------C G
Come on baby, don't say maybe
--------Am-----------C-------------G-----C----Em
I gotta know of your sweet love is gonna save me
good luck with it
Best wishes
Chris
The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
Niiiice!!
This is one of the easiest songs I know to play along with - perfect for here.
Good job!
:) :) :)

Yeah,
Great song dogsbody!
Did you know this song was actually written by Jackson Browne?
If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
Awesome song!
I also play this (very badly).my daughter thinks I play it too fast ,but even slowed down it does not seem right any idea how to get the rhythm and speed.
The easiest way is to play along with the record - sounds simple but takes practise!!!
Learn the song - note for note - till it's embedded in your (sub) consciousness - then load the cd and go for it!!!
Usually works for me.........

Hiya,
The tuning on the CD is slightly flat, so be prepared for it to sound not quite right.
The solo uses the G major (E minor) pentatonic. Have fun.

Thanks for posting the chords, but I have a question how it's not just for this song either. How do you know the strumming pattern and if they don't play all of the strings. Thanks for the help.
I'm pretty much just a beginner and I know this is tough for me also. I started playing this song a couple of weeks ago after seeing it here. I really thought I was doing pretty good with the strumming pattern. But I just heard the song on the radio and realized it's completely different. The pattern I use fits more with the flow of the lyrics. If the strumming pattern doesn't match the words (syncopation I think is the term that's used) I'm completely lost. So I came up with a different strumming pattern, I don't think it matters much. I would like to be able to nail the intro though.
Well I got this guitar and I'm tryin' to learn how to make it talk.
The intro isn't too complicated: G, G, C, D7sus4 - and the strum pattern I use is
Quarter note
eighth note
quarter note
eighth note
eight note
eighth note
and you can let it go off the rhythm a bit without any problems - in fact, I think the recorded version uses a very lazy strum pattern that sort of follows the above but not too tightly.
Best,
A :-)

Thanks for the help Alan,
As I've only been playing a year and a half myself I found the previous two questions a bit difficult to answer.
I'm lucky I suppose in that once I hear a song I can devise a strumming pattern in my head that seems to fit. But putting it down on paper is not so `easy'. (excuse the pun)
Thanks also for the intro chord pattern, now I can start correctly.
Regards
Chris

RE - Intro.......
A friend of mine showed me these voicings, they are what he uses onstage.......
--G C D7sus4
E 3 3 3
B 3 1 1
G 0 0 2
D 0 2 0
A 2 3 0
E 3 x x
For the G, 1st finger on 5th string,2nd finger on 6th string,3rd finger on 2nd string and pinkie on top E string - this never moves, so it's the pivot if you like.......
For the C,leave your pinkie where it is,1st finger to 2nd string,2nd finger to 4th string and 3rd finger to 5th string....
For the D7sus4, leave 1st and pinky where they are, simply move your 2nd finger across to the 3rd string......
Takes a little practise to get it right, but he swears that when he saw the Eagles years ago, he was watching the guitarist's fingers.......always made me jealous, he must've had a really good seat!!!!

I use this same pattern D_DU_UDU
May I suggest for dogbody's tab that the chord change to D for "on my" (mind) gets two downstrokes, as the chord changes at mid "phrase." That's how it sounds to me.
I believe that both Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey were co-writers of the song.

Fretzky :D
try it with these alternate voicings
G Cadd9 Dsus
E 3 3 3
B 3 3 3
G 0 0 2
D 0 2 0
A 2 3 0
E 3 x x
pinky and 3rd finger stay in place and only move the 1st and 2nd finger
