Think you could be right Rod, but I think its because their songs are great for playing open chords to and they've been around so long that everyone knows at least one their songs in their head.

Then again like so many of us putting songs on this database you sometimes get veiws but no replies. Take in my case for example, Doolin Dalton and Sylvia's Mother. Nice easy songs but no feedback. Can't explain it though.

Cheers

Chris

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)

Just been working on the little riff that comes just before the vocals start

And this works perfectly

Can anyone add the solo to the thread? I got the strumming down and the little fills, but i want to add the solo. If i can do that, this will be the first song I will be able to play ALL the parts to.

I have been looking for the solo in powertab as well, so if anyone can help me with that, i would be greatfull.

Thanks

Mike Mc

This is what I have found MikeMc, good luck with it.

You may have to copy and paste it on to notebook and view it maximized as it looks as though we have some font wrap going on here.

ok, this is a bit of a newbie q, but we've all got to learn somehow :)
I'm just wondering how one knows when to change chords in relation to the strum pattern? As in this line: --------------------------D-----C
I've got seven women on my mind
do i play one full pattern (d du udu) of d followed by one of c?
or in the first line of the chorus--------Em------------C G
Take it easy, take it easy
is it one full strum of Em, then a half C, half G strum?

Any help much appreciated

cheers

Hi mate

to play a song what really matters is to know how many beats each chord lasts. If you do not have a music sheet handy, you have to listen to the song with the chord sheet in front of you and start to count how many beats there are among each chord. In this song, if i remember correctly the chord progression goes like this:

verse: G (10 beats)-D (2 beats)-C (4 beats)
repeat it

chorus. Em (8 beats) - C (4 beats) - G (4 beats) ehm sorry I do not remember the rest of it

Anyway the suggested pattern (D/du(u/du) needs 4 beats to be completed, so you could play it once for chords that last 4 beats, twice for chords that lasts for eight beats

When a chord lasts for two beats only play just D/Du

Hope it helps

cheers

Matteo

I have been working on / struggling with this for a couple of weeks off and on. I can't stop myself from pausing between each series of dduudu strums. I can get it in my head, but getting it from my head to my strumming hand and strings is driving me bonkers. :x I know practice, practice and more practice is the key, but I was wondering if anyone else went through this and what may have been the "aha" moment.

Thanks in advance,
Jim-Bone

hi mate

you're probably goign through the "rhythm-learning" process. You pause because you're not feeling the rhythm you'd like to play so your mind concentrate so much on making the right moves that it is all unnatural.

I passed from your same troubles and occasionaly still have troubles when I'm learning some complex new rhythms, but the good news is that you can make it if you use the right approach.

The first thing to do is to learn the sound of the rhythm: you can not play it correctly if you don't know how is should sound!

The best way is to get a tutorial cd with some rhyhthms played otherwise you could check on-line (i.e. check david Hodge lesson "Sitting on the dock of the bay" where in the first mp3 he plays the same rhythm of "Take it easy"). Just listen to it a few times in order to learn its sound: tis way you could recognize it when played in other songs (and let me tell it is the standard rhythm of a lot of pop songs). Then try to play it tapping your hands and finally play it on guitar, better alongside a pratice track: if you do this for some days you'll get it trust me!

Cheers

Matteo

p.s. remember to always tap your foot to mark the beat when you play

Thanks for the great advice Matteo. I'll listen to David's lesson. I have heard (like you said) that this is the pattern of a lot of songs, that's why I am trying so hard to get it down.

Thanks again,
Jim-Bone
