Here's a fun song by Warren Zeffon:

D, A, C, G, G5, G
d u/d u/d udu d u/ud

or
D, A, C G
d u/ud u/ud uduud
Walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain
He was looking for the place called Lee Ho Fork's
For to get a big dish of beef chow mein

*Slashes denote pauses, play everything else straight through. I play it both ways, sometimes mix the patterns too. The A chord is actually an A suspended chord though, 000220

COOL TUNE from the late Warren Zevon. Here's what I got for the progression...

e|---------------------------|
B|---------------------------|
G|-4-2---2-0---0-0-----------|
D|-0-0-------------0-0---2-0-|
A|-------3-3---3-3-----------|
E|-----------------3-3---3-3-|

I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of Soho in the rain
He was looking for a place called Lee Ho Fook's
Going to get himself a big dish of beef chow mien

Werewolves of London
If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Better not let him in
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
Werewolves of London again
Werewolves of London
He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor
Werewolves of London
Well, I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen
Doing the Werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney, Jr. walking with the Queen
Doing the Werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's
His hair was perfect

actually Warren never played A in this song. The chords are D C G

it goes D C G G/(add a C note on the B string) G then the note G-B-D

It is a great song though

I've got an alternative tab for this somewhere...I'll try and post it in the next couple of days, but I'm pretty sure it started D6/D5 D5/C C/C/C6/C

All two/three fingered barre chords....

Either way, it sounds good though.

true, it is fun to play. I'm not going off of a tab though. I'm going off of actual chords provided to me (and several others via the official website)by Warren's son Jordan Zevon. Lawyers, Guns, & Money is another easy one by WZ.

Been listening to this riff over and over again at half speed using my Transkriber software, which keeps it in the same key. The very beginning of the song is where you can hear it best since it's just piano and bass guitar at that point.

Keep in mind that since this riff is done on a piano, you have find those exact same notes to play it on a guitar. So I'm going off the the best source I know... the original recording and not some tab posted some where. I'm only hearing two notes at a time. If someone can find a third note in there please let me know what it is.

I think these double stops well represents what's going on through out the song. You have to pluck the strings using your thumb and first finger.

Your freting hand should be using fingers 3 and thumb, 1 and thumb, 2 and thumb, and at this point the rest should be obvious.

E doesn't = MC2, E = Fb

No, I never found it - I think it was on the computer I used to share with my daughter, but when I bought this one, she totally reformatted the hard drive and upgraded to Windows XP from Win. Millenium....so whatever was on it is now lost in cyberspace ....

It's more than likely though, I'd have probably got it off Guitarnotes - usually the first place I look for tabs.....

OK. I've been messing about with this tonight, here's what I came up with.....

I tried it on piano first.....the song can easily be played with couplets like so....
Melody Note BA AG DDED DDEG
Bass Note DD CC GGGG GGGG

Then I tried equating the piano couplets with guitar like so.....
Melody Note - B A A G D D E D D D E G
Bass Note - D D C C G G G G G G G G

E---------------------3-----3-|
B-12-10-10--8-3-3h5-3---3h5---|
G-----------------------------|
D-12-12-10-10-5-5-5-3---------|
A-----------------------------|
E-----------------------------|

I then came up with another melody line, if you like, using open chords......

Melody Note - B A A G D D E D D D E G
Bass Note - D D C C G G G G G G G G

E-------------------------|
B-------------------------|
G-4-2-2-0---------0-----0-|
D-0-0-----0-0h2-0---0h2---|
A-----3-3-----------------|
E---------3-3-3-3---------|

Now putting the chords to the melody wasn't that hard....just look at the bass line.....

D D C C G G G G G G G G

You've got D, C and G.......

But if you look at the couplets what you've got is....

D with a B note - D6
D with an A note - D5 (or D)
C with an A note - C6
C with a G note - C5 (or C)
G with a D note - G5 (or G)
G with an E note - G6

So put them together and you get:

G D D C G G G6 G

Chords E-------------------------------------|
B-12-10-10--8-12-12----12-------------|
G-12-11-11--9-12-12----12-12-------12-|
D-12-12-12-10-10-12-14-12----12h14----|
A-10-10-10--8-10-10-10-10-------------|
E-10-10-10--8-10-10-10-10-------------|

Couplets E--------------------------3--------3-|
B-12-10-10--8--3--3-h5--3-----3h5-----|
G-------------------------------------|
D-12-12-10-10--5--5--5--3-------------|
A-------------------------------------|
E-------------------------------------|

Any questions, feel free to ask......

:D :D :D

Pretty cool stuff. Heard this song about a month ago and loved it as usual.

"Nothing...can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts."
