Unbelievably, John dismisses this song as a remake of "This Boy". I don't quite understand his comment, but I like his song . . . But then I like almost everything John wrote/sang.

This is a good song to practice your palm muting and some of your bar chords.

Basically, for each chord: strum once as a moderately quick arpeggio... followed by one palm muted strum (which imitates Ringo's methodical snare drumbeat). Nice and easy with some of the words sung between the two strokes.

Although several bar chords are used, remember:
* The F#m (244222) is about the easiest bar chord there is.
* The F#m7 (24222) is simply an F#m with the pinky removed.
* The F#7 (242322) is similar to an F#m7, but the middle finger is placed on the 3rd fret of the 3rd (G) string.
* And a C#m is a Bm moved up two frets to the fourth fret.

(The fingerings shown under the closing notes are for the fretting hand.)

Another absolute gem shug.

Why it was relegated to the B side of a single in this country I'll never know, same with "This Boy" both had great vocal harmony work and acoustic guitar work. They both should have been album tracks. "Yes It Is" would have only enhanced the "Help" album.

Strange how John always dismissed his work, especially when these songs showed his softer side.

I'll enjoy having a go at this.

Thanks Shug,

Chris.

ps

Here's a youtube link to great fingerstyle rendition of this song including unbelievably great harmonics on his acoustic. There are loads of other Beatles numbers this guy has done on youtube too. All fingerstyle, he's a genius!!!

I, for one am not worthy!!

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
