This a classic that I found easier than I expected.
The Faces saved the basic British rock band format in my opinion and gave us all something to cling too, filling the void after the Fab Four broke up. They just gave their all even when larking about having to mime to their hits on top of the pops.
This is for you Vic! The original pub rockers. Is this number in your pub set along with Maggie May. I'm still working on that classic!
So here goes
[D]I had [G]nothing to do on this hot afternoon
but to [A]settle down and write you a [D]line
I been [G]meaning to phone ya, but from Minnesota
[A]Hell, it's been a very long [D]time
You wear it [A]well
A little old [D/F#]fashioned but [G]that's all [A]right
[D]I sup[G]pose you're thinking Aunt Betty's sinking
oh he [A]wouldn't get in touch with [D]me
For [G]I ain't begging or losing my head
I [A]sure do want you to [D]know
That you wear it [A]well
There ain't a [D/F#]lady in a [G]land so [A]fine oh my
[D]Remember those
[G]basement parties, your brothers karate
[A]All day rock and roll [D]shows
the [G]homesick blues and the radical views
[A]haven't left a mark on [D]you
You wear it [A]well
A little late on the [D/F#]time but [G]I don't [A]mind
But I ain't for[G]getting that you were once [A]mine
but I [G]blew it without even [A]trying
Now I'm [G]eating my heart out
[A]trying to get a letter [D]through
Since you've been [D/F#]gone it's hard to [G]carry on [A]
I want to [D]write about the
[G]birthday gown that I bought in town
as [A]you sat down and cried on the [D]stairs
You knew it didn't
[G]cost the earth, but for what it's worth
you made me [A]feel like a million[D]aire
and you wear it [A]well
Madame O[D/F#]nassis got [G]nothing on [A]you
[D]Well my [G] coffee's cold, and I'm gettin told
that I [A]gotta get back to [D]work
So when the [G]sun goes low and you're home alone
[A] think of me and try not to [D]laugh
and I wear it [A]well
I don't [D/F#]mind if you [G]call col[A]lect
But I [D]ain't for[G]getting that you were once [A]mine
but I [G]blew it without even [A]trying
Now I'm [G]eating my heart out
[A]trying to get back to [D]you
Since that's been [D/F#]said, what's [G]left to ad[A]dress?
Hope you all enjoy it.
Chris

I still have a tape of the Faces doing "Maggie" on the Xmas Top of The Pops one year - Rod and the two Ronnies kicking a ball about, John Peel miming the mandolin, Woody pretending to get caught miming - they certainly knew how to lark about onstage!!!

You are posting some great songs on here. Just to let you know, I have been practicing All the Young Dudes. We have very similar tastes in music. I was always into the English bands.
I had the Faces album on 8 track way back. I liked their cover of "I'm Losing You". I thought that was Rod Stewart and Ron Wood at their best.
Keep up the good work.

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
My apologies Dogsbody! I mixed up last reply with original post.
Great songs!
Thank You

No problem Wes,
You and Vic inspired me to start adding posts here. I agree we all seem to have the same tastes in music.
And Vic ,
Thanks for the intro tab. I always have trouble working out how to play intros, I'll have go at this tonight.

Oh cool - my girlfriend likes Rod Stewart and since I started working Maggie May into my "bumming around at home" set she thinks I'm the best thing since sliced yoghurt. This'll have her ironing my shirts.
That video with John Peel is a classic of our time - get it onto dvd pronto.

Alan, If I knew how to convert that VHS video to DVD, believe me I would - please remember, you are talking to someone who's slightly less computer literate than his desk...........

Yellow Pages lo-tech phone book dude - let your fingers do the walking and all those other slogans they had - gotta be somewhere that will do Video <-> DVD transfer.

You must be reading my mind. I am on vacation and had Rod Stewart's
version of Losing You cranked to the max this afternoon while driving. I 've got to learn that.I thought. Do you know that funky intro?

Wes
Thanks a lot !!!
That intro is going through my head and driving me crazy.
The big drawback to sending it is I have a Mac (OS X) and don't know in what format I could use.
I'm on vacation but there might be someone I could ask how to do it.
Thanks again
