Nice little gem from the pen of Messrs Lennon & Mc.Cartney

Brian Ferry did a great version of this on his album "These foolish things", which I happened to be listening to in the car today. Thought to myself I have the chords for this at home somewhere, did a search and found this not to be on the ESD so here it is.

A B7 D A
When I call you up, your line's engaged.
A B7 D A
I have had enough, so act your age!
A7 D Dm A
We have lost the time that was so hard to find,
A B7 D A
And I will lose my mind if you won't see me. (You won't see me)
D A
You won't see me. (You won't see me)

A B7 D A
I don't know why you should want to hide
A B7 D A
But I can't get through, my hands are tied.
A7 D Dm A
I won't want to stay, I don't have much to say,
A B7 D A
but I can turn away, and you won't see me. (You won't see me)
D A
You won't see me. (You won't see me)

D6 Dm6 A
Time after time you refuse to even listen.
B7 E7sus4 E7
I wouldn't mind if I knew what I was missing.
(No I wouldn't no I wouldn't)

A B7 D A
Though the days are few they're filled with tears,
A B7 D A
and since I lost you it feels like years.
A7 D Dm A
Yes, it seems so long, girl since you've been gone,
A B7 D A
and I just can't go on if you won't see me. (You won't see me)
D A
You won't see me. (You won't see me)

D6 Dm6 A
Time after time you refuse to even listen.
B7 E7sus4 E7
I wouldn't mind if I knew what I was missing.
(No I wouldn't no I wouldn't)

A B7 D A
Though the days are few they're filled with tears,
A B7 D A
and since I lost you it feels like years.
A7 D Dm A
Yes, it seems so long, girl since you've been gone,
A B7 D A
and I just can't go on if you won't see me. (You won't see me)
D A
You won't see me. (You won't see me)

A B7 D A

The unusual chords are

Dm6
EADGBe
xx0201

D6
EADGBe
xx0202

E7sus4
EADGBe
020200

Paul McCartney wrote this about his tumultuous 5-year relationship with actress Jane Asher. He wrote this one night after she had walked out.
Mal Evans, The Beatles road manager, played the Hammond organ.
This was recorded in 2 takes on November 11, 1965. In their early years, The Beatles did so many live shows that they had no trouble recording quickly.

Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!

Fine song, great work

This song sounds so good when two sings the harmonies in the verse. Fairly easy and great sounding, I have it transcribed somewhere in anybody's interested. Only trouble, with the song in A, you have to stay on the high A during the entire last verse...

Soon we'll have to sort the beatles songs tabbed here by album :)

...only thing I know how to do is to keep on keepin' on...

Good one Rod,

I can't keep up with all these Beatle offerings, you and Vic are spoiling us all.

I've got a couple to put on myself but I was waiting for the great "GN ESD INDEX" project to get sorted (thank you everyone who has and still are putting such magnificent effort in on that)

What a little pot boiler of an album "Rubber Soul" was eh guys. Not one dud song on it. It was the album that inspired Brian Wilson to say to the Beach Boys, hey we have to better that one. "Pet Sounds" was born as a direct response. Then the Beatles answered with Revolver and then Sgt Pepper. Poor Brian Wilson it nearly cost him his sanity, how can you compete with that, but he came up with "Smile". Ill fated then maybe, but that transalantic battle of sixties pop put the development of popular music into overdrive. And what incredible songs resulted. And hey "Smile" resurfaced a couple of years ago and Brian Wilson is back with us.

Chris

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)

Nice one Rodders . . . this is a fun song to play because of the strumming pattern. Don't know what the posting etiquette is, but I do play a "cheater's" version with a capo on the 2nd fret. (May, or may not, be the same one Larsko uses ???) Perhaps Rodders and Chris would like to combine both "voicings" at their next performance!! Anyway, here it is . . .

Cm: xx5543
A7: x02223
Am7: x02010
Cm6: xx1213

Form Cm6 using index finger to bar strings 1-4 (DGBe); place middle finger on 2nd fret of 3rd string; and ring finger on 3rd fret of 1st string.
