I bought an assortment of picks at my local shop last week, and had to buy a 6-pack of red Jazz IIIs because it was the only type the store didn't sell individually.
The Jazz IIIs have an almost cult-like following, mostly of Eric Johnson and John Petrucci fans. (Not bad company.)
However, I don't think they are for me. I keep going back to the hard-to-find Pickboy Carbon Nylon 1.0s that my teacher suggested. They seem to be the best match with my guitars, strings, playing style, etc.
But some people LOVE the Jazz IIIs. You can read some reviews here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/product/reviews/base_pid=110062/rpp=10/
The picks are new except one with has had a few days play on 9/10 hybrid strings.
If you want 'em, they're yours. No catch.
Well, okay, there's a minor catch.
(There's always a catch!)
Write a song about Jazz III picks. Just a little jingle. "Jazz III, they're the best for me, they make me want to ... be, all that I can be ..." Something simple. Or complex. Your call. Preferably with tab, but not required.
Writer of the best song, as chosen by me using totally arbitrary and subjective rationale, gets all six picks mailed to them in a plain white #10 envelope. I might even put them in a baggie.
There is only one set of six picks available, so don't bug me if you don't win.
Go.
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
I'm in
Does it have to be about them or can it just mention them prominently?
Either way; it's all good.
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
how long do i have to post a song of them?
I'm moving in March, and I hope they don't get lost in the meantime ... or packed away ... :D
How 'bout we set a deadline. 5pm eastern, this Sunday the 12th.
If there are no entries by then, I'll ... uhm ... well, I don't know what I'll do.
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
ROFLMAO! Hondaman just PM'd me his punk Jazz III song. I almost spit up my drink, it's so funny.
Definitely worth the airmail postage to Canada.
Nick, the bar is set VERY high!
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
slej,
You ARE going to post the entries once you close the gate, aren't you???
Margaret
When my mind is free, you know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue, the guitar's comin' through to soothe me ~
You ARE going to post the entries once you close the gate, aren't you???
Of course! Maybe sooner.
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."

We're getting down to the wire, and Hondaman has the lead ... The lines about the TV got me rolling!

then start to burn and get hot as a kettle
chourus 1

jazzz 3's ya jazz 3's
you got me on my knees
keeps me shreding till my fingers bleed

then fade out
the main riff would be something like a punk style palm muting of power chords maybe some thing like this
--------------------- ---- -----------------------------------------------------
--------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------
-------------------------- -5555-5555-7777-7777 -7777-7777-7777-7777
-7777-7777-5555-5555 -5555-5555-7777-7777 -7777-7777-7777-7777
-7777-7777-5555-5555 -3333-3333-5555-5555 -5555-5555-5555-5555
-5555-5555-3333-3333 ------------------------------------------------------
pm------------------------- ---- ------ ------ ------ --- ---- ----- ------ ------ -
then for the chourus's maybe just
------------------- ---------------------
------------------- ---------------------
------------------- -5-7
-7 -5 -5-7
-7 -5 -7-5

"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
I admit defeat
Jazz IIIs, that's my pick
All the others make me sick
I never drop them on the floor
Like the ones I did before
I'm seein' red
I'm seein' red
I'm seein' Jazz IIIs in my head
You got your Dunlops
You got your Fenders
But I've got Jazz IIIs
Between my fingers
I'm seein' red
I'm seein' red
I'm seein' Jazz IIIs in my head
Want to shred?
Well, here's a trick
Make sure to get
Some Jazz III picks
I'm seein' red
I'm seein' red
I'll use Jazz IIIs until I'm dead
If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
Dang, Wes! That's liable to get you a Dunlop sponsorship.

Oh boy! Wes just raised the bar!!
