I wanted to make musicians aware of an immensely beneficial upcoming opportunity…Entrants have until October 14, 2005 to enter the International Songwriting Competition. The competition offers an excellent opportunity for aspiring songwriters and artists to receive extensive press and publicity. International entrants of all ages get the rare opportunity of presidents and head executives of top record companies and well-established artists hearing their songs. The $100,000 in cash and prizes could be used to jumpstart the winner's career by funding extra publicity or towards an album, etc. Placing in the competition could catapult an unknown artist into the public eye or give an already established artist some extra publicity and compensation.
Last year, ISC added the Instrumental music category. This year, ISC has been fortunate enough to have several excellent judges within this genre. Judges this year include: Steve Vai; John Scofield; Charlie Musselwhite; Tom Waits; Amy Ray (Indigo Girls); Loretta Lynn; Monte Lipman (President, Universal Records); and many more.

2005 categories include: Pop/Top 40, Rock, Gospel/Christian, Country, R&B/Hip-Hop, Performance, Folk/Singer-Songwriter, AAA/Roots/Americana, Jazz, Dance/Electronica, Blues, Children's Music, Teen (18 yrs. old and younger), Instrumental, World Music, and Lyrics Only.

Deadline for submission is October 14, 2005.

Too bad I cant afford 30 bucks per entry...

Our songs also have the standard pop format: Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, bad solo. All in all, I think we sound like The Knack and the Bay City Rollers being molested by Black Flag and Black Sabbath.
