I'm new to this forum so I don't know if this is the right place to post.

Anyhow, I have a PEAVEY Supreme 160 (At least 15 years old but it's a beast!) head and a Line 6 Cab. I want to set up effects loop that incorporates my BOSS ME-50. Because the way I used to do it is that I linearly chain everything up (guitar->NS-2->overdrive->various distortion pedals->ME-50->GE-7->Amp). I use ME-50 mainly for its echo and reverb. But this setup kills the pedal functions on ME-50 (when wah, pitch, etc. are on my guitar sounds completely crap) and it alters my tone somewhat even when pedal is set to only volume.

I'm reading up on effects loop and stuff and seems like it would solve my problem. But I have no idea which goes where what and how. My head has effects loop in, out, preamp in, power amp out; ME-50 has main out, mono, L,R, etc.

So yea, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Oh and also, not that I normally use it, but the distortion on the head gives alot of noise when gain is turned up high, is there a way to fix that?

Hi and welcome!

If you want to use the ME-50 by the echo and reverb I think you are using it in the correct way. These effects usually go at the end of the chain. The wah and other pitch effects usually go at the beginning. There is not a general rule but it is true they sound better in this way (or at least they sound as we usually hear them).

Here you will find some tips on the effects order. I hope it was useful:
