It's "Example #1." Again, my apologies for this, I was so concerned about everyone getting the strumming right and so busy explaining how important it is to not worry about being note-for-note perfect that I forgot to play it exactly as I'd written for the lesson when I recorded it. I just kind of went into "default" mode and played it the way I normally do.

Sorry for the confusion.

There seems to be a small error in the Wish you were here beginners lesson?

The suggested fingering for the Em7 (see chord chart) indicates the middle fingering on the A string and the index on the D-sting but as also is described later on in the lesson the index finger stays on the same string for both G and Em7 and the middle finger is on the D-string.

This is a great song to play (study) by the way.

I've just started working on WYWH, and I'm going to admit right up front to being a little numb on this. (And not just because I just came in from shoveling snow. :oops: )

David, would it be correct to copy those lines after "In case you're wondering, here it is written out:" in the Intermediate lesson, and patch them in after Example 1 in ESB #25? (I've got both lessons as Micro$oft Word files, partly for the ability to make additions and changes like that.) That would put those (bars? measures?) just ahead of the first "Play MP3" button in ESB #25, ending up around the top of page 3.

BTW, my first and only Pink Floyd "album" (so far) is "Delicate Sound of Thunder," a two-CD set from a live tour. Maybe once a day now, I play along with "WYWH" just for drill. Only the chords so far, but I'm working on getting it to where some day, somebody may say, "Hey, that's 'Wish You Were Here'. I didn't know you knew that." (Unabashedly plagiarized from David's "Harvest Moon" lesson, ESB #29. :wink: )

Gotta get my calluses built up again, after months of inactivity. (None of that Bryan Adams "played it 'til my fingers bled" stuff, though.)

I was also having some troubles at the wish u were here intro... :roll:

its the change from example3 to ex4 which I'm a bit unsure about.

Is the correct chords this (from start to end of intro)

g - em7 - g - em7 - em7 - a7sus4 - a7 - and then the verse?

Is it supposed to be:

Is the strumming pattern for the chorus DDUUDU ?

In example 2B

David is suggesting that you improvise a pattern like 2a, either exactly like it or something like it. The slashes indicate partial chords -- hitting some of the notes (strings) but not all of them. You can play around with it until you find something that's comfortable and works.

i cant start "free styling",in the "house of the rising sun" it was very clear what i should now i dont understand.
on example #2A,do i need to strum it or just pick ever one?['cuz i see
things like this:

- - -0
does it mean i have to play 'em on the same time or just do the 0 and right after to do the 3?..
i dunno why its so complicted to me.
ill give it another try right now and will edit this post and see what's up.

If notes are stacked like that yes play them both at the same time at this point accuracy is probably not all there so play SLOOOOOOW! and eventually the speed will come

Try strumming the chord gently. And instead of trying to play exactly the strings David's listed, think of it this way -- you don't need to strum all the strings. If you do, that's fine. If you want to occasionally strum the treble strings and occasionally strum the bass strings, that's great. Play with it a bit. And if it's easier for now to strum the whole chord, that's fine too.
