Just got an idea for a song and wrote this up in about half an hour, it is the first draft so suggestions for improvement are welcome. Also came up with a basic fingerpicking pattern (with a capo on the first fret) based around a C, Cadd9 and Am7 chords. And an outro using F and Am7 chords.

Bitter Pill

We'll do away with sadness and we'll do away with grief,
Do away with fear and tears running down our cheeks
But our tears are what make us, create who we are
And our tears will make us smile when we see
And our tears will make us smile when we see

It's a bitter pill to swallow
So I will not swallow it
It's a bitter pill to swallow and I'd rather take the hit
I may be unhappy and you might well say I'm ill
But at least I can say that I'm real
At least I can say that I'm real

What is wrong with our dreams eating us inside,
the ghosts we've left far behind haunting our mind
Is it worth the loss of good dreams for indifference to life
Is the price of our indifference simply love and life

Can you really feel the way you did before?
Can you really feel the way you did before?

Chorus

As you walk the streets laughing while your children are dead
It isn't you, is it, who is not right in the head
Is it really so good to hide from what is real and is right,
To keep what you are feeling, even from yourself

Can you really feel the way you did before?
Can you really feel the way you did before?

Chorus

Anyway that is a rough draft and could do with some more work, in the last verse I forgot a few lines as well which improved it a lot but I'll think of some more to go in there.
