If Heaven Holds A Place by(JACook)
Do you think that Heaven holds a place for a man like me?
One who knows his wrong from his right.
One who's made all the wrong choices all along,
One who just-hasn't seen the light?
And it doesn't seem fair, and it doesn't seem right,
That Heaven would hold a place for me...
I still look at the stars on a cold October's night,
Wondering why - why am I here?
They're so big and bright and I am so small,
The answers are never really clear.
And it doesn't seem fair, and it doesn't seem right,
That Heaven would hold a place for me...
But if Heaven even holds a place for me,
The best thing I could hope to do,
Is take the place that Heaven holds for me ,
And give it to you.
Sometimes the answers to the questions I ask myself,
Are much more than I can bear.
The truth runs deeper than what meets the eye,
And I wonder why you'd care.
And it doesn't seem fair, and it doesn't seem right,
That Heaven would hold a place for me...
But if Heaven even holds a place for me,
The best thing I could hope to do,
Is take the place that Heaven holds for me ,
And give it to you.
Give my place in heaven to you.
Just give it to you.
Well, I'd give it to you.

Very, very good :)
Really nice balance to the tones too, that's what I always used to have trouble with :)
Do you mind if I get all geeky and ask what setup you recorded it with?
Chords....not at all...used a Boss BR1600 recorder....started with a Johnson JG 620 six string with ribbon wound 12`s, using a compression/EQ patch....I programmed the drums using "step" from the canned sound samples on the BR.....had a buddy lay down the bass direct in...lead and solo are via a strat look alike Vox electric (oldy but a goody) using a clean lead patch(knocking down the delay just a tad)...vocals (ahem..complete with gravel in the throat) are sung as an overdub (with LOTS of reverb in the monitor) through a Sure PG58 and a compression/deessing/enhancer patch...tried a track or two with a Sennheiser E855..but all the imperfections in the vocals were more prominent...tried a few other things like backing vocals and acoustic lead and said screw it...really wanted a piano part but she`s in France....
One thing I noticed while mixing- mastering...sometimes the "sound" (levels) you get when you bounce to stereo, seem to change during the mastering segment...you can bypass the mastering patches, but I haven`t tried it yet...if theres anything else let me know...cooker
