First one for me

So I jotted this down in about 15 minutes. I see the verses as being a slow, maybe slightly country twangyish vocal style with solo acoustic guitar. Chorus builds up slowly into an almost rock anthem type thing (think "Behind Blue Eyes" but slower), returns to original style for the other verses. Kind of ran out of ideas on the verses at the end, and I didn't want to force it too much.

Verse:
From the beginning we're told, you need the spotlight
We're always defined by the victories we fight
Run your fingers over my favorite scar
Cause it's the failures that show you who you are

My eyes are heavy but I refuse to sleep
I like it too much when you act so deep
We can talk all night about what we want from life
But maybe your love is all that I need

Chorus:

Verse:
But now you're gone and there's still no sleep
I guess that the memories are all I keep
I still like the scratches on my guitar
In the end it's what makes us who we are
