Hi all. This is my first posted song on here, so i await lots of constructice critisism!! This song is inspired by the way the world seems to have deteriorated so badly in the last 5 years and my hatred of the TV. Sick of violence being treated as entertainment. Anyway, here goes -

where have all the heroes gone? By MattGuitar

V1
Switch on the telly and tell me what you see,
A boy in pieces blown to smithereens?
A girl with cheeks scarred with dirty tears
Where have they come from, all these fears?

V2Walk down the street, tell me what you see
You being watched by closed circuit TV?
Faces are drawn and pale, with heavy heads
Where has this come from, all of this dread?

Chorus
Where are are heroes to save us from ourselves?
Would Lennon be turning in his grave?
Where's Dylan now to write the protest songs?
How many mistakes must we make?

V3Politicians take a look, what do you see?
Votes cast on the Bible and not reality
Christians, Muslems, Jews and heretics
Do you really beleive all this rhetoric?

V4
Before its too late shall we ALL take a look?
Realise the wrong turnings we took
Us against them, them against us,
Never ending cycle of wanton blood lust

ChorusWhere are are heroes to save us from ourselves?
Would Lennon be turning in his grave?
Where's Dylan now to write the protest songs?
How many mistakes must we make?

Repeat chorus
Where are are heroes to save us from ourselves?
Is Lennon turning in his grave?
Where are our heroes to save us from ourselves?
How many mistakes must we make?

Hiya,

I think the fact that you haven't referred to any particular world event is a good idea - you don't want to date your song by making it a snapshot of the times.

I like the third verse - especially the "Votes cast on the Bible" line - and the overall feel is upbeat despite all the misery you've portrayed. Works for me.

Best,

A :-)

Really liked the verses. Very cool. flows great!

I'm not sure the chorus works for me though.

I like the idea of putting Lennon and Dylan in there...just not sure on multiple lines for them.

Just an idea....

Chorus

Where are the heroes to save us from ourself
Where is Lennon, Dylan...who will tell
Who will write the songs of protest
Who will sing for all the rest

Feel free to use/change or laugh at that.

G
