i was heading out of town to a party on sat night and picked up the other singer in our band on the way, and he brought a 1/3 size nylon string dodgey guitar with him and said 'hey lets write a song on the way there!' so we did...well...

we started mucking around with chords, him playing me driving and calling out which chord to go to next etc till we came accross a progression that captured out imagination, then we rummaged through my bag and found my lyric book and grabbed a few unused lines in there to start us off, he played it and we sung meaningless words (or at least words we didnt intend to use) over it until we had a catchy vocal tune, then we started on picking a subject, then putting words to the tune we had created in line with that subject, then working out harmonys.

it took an hour to get where we were headed and by then we had two verses written, chords for the verses, chorus, and bridge and ideas flowing for the other parts of the song.

so now we head our different ways, keep working on it and meet up again later this week to compare our ideas etc and see what happens!

That sounds real cool, and a good way to use you're driving time. I have always carried a pen and note pad with me when driving, and often pull over to scribble a line or an idea down, so it is not forgotten. I have around 3 notepads full of scribbles, and only a few lines used, ah well, maybe oneday i`ll tie a few together in a moment of inspiration.

That's very cool! Sounds like a fun way to write a song.
