Yesterday
‘Someday soon,' she said
‘Someday soon.' She said
As she walked away
Left me alone to stay
That was yesterday
The rain fell hard
The rain fell so very hard
As she stole away
In the night of that last day
That was yesterday
She stole everything I owned
And she took me for a row
I forgot all I know
Now I sit in a bar
A man even without a car
Sipping my beer
Talking for a sympathetic ear
That was yesterday
lois: 'Chris, women are not objects!'
peter: 'Your mother's right son, listen to what it says.'
I liked it... felt the sadness even before the revelation that the singer is the one left behind.
The only line I didn't get was the "man even without a car" line. Just seemed to break the mood for me. Maybe you could describe the bar:
Now I sit in a bar
Dusty, smoke-filled bar
This also fits with the first two verses which both have lines 1 and 2 ending with the same word. This would keep the pattern, but break it at the same time.
Either way it's good.
Ice cream is a dish best served cold.
cool, thanks for the suggestion... i was thinking that the other person took everything... but it does seem somewhat comic book that way, so suggestion noted!
