"Gallows Pole" sounds pretty nice on a 12 string....I'm not really a big metal fan, but why not try out some of your favourite acoustic songs by your favourite metal bamds on the 12-string?
Enter Sandman might be cool, for instance....
One night, I was messing about with the 12-string, my mate had the electric plugged in, lot of distortion, started playing "Paranoid"....I joined in strumming full open chords, whilst he played 3 strings....all downstrokes...now that sounded great, just a pity we didn't have a tape handy....
Oh yeah....another nice one - "Over My Shoulder" by Mike and the Mechanics....
Just keep experimenting.....

A couple of weeks ago I was hanging out at the music store at closing time. My teacher was playing around with a 1950s Gibson mandolin with a 4-pole dogear P-90 type pickup (made that way) and had been playing earlier with a Fender GDEC modelling amp, so I suggested he plug the little mando into it. A young fellow who works at the store plugged his Gibson electric into another amp and they played all sorts of heavy metal with the leads on the mandolin. It was awesome!
