I run my Martin elec/acoustic trough my Fender tube amp (Vibrolux Custom).
it sounds great.

Ive never tried an acoustic amp. others I know swear by them.

go ahead and use your amp.

I agree with Dogbite.

I have an acoustic/electric and I play through and acoustic amp but if I owned one then I would never have purchase the amp, I would have just played through the other.

At a beginning level, no one cares. Now, maybe when you start gigging you'll want to invest. I cant speak to that level though.

This isn't my own experience, just what I've read, but acoustic amps are voiced for the piezo pickups in an acoustic/electric. Most acoustic amps also have a tweeter as well as the woofer. Therefore they just sound better through them. I'd imagine that an acoustic/electric would work through an electric guitar amp, it just won't sound as good.

I agree. an acoustic amp IS designed for acoustic amplification. I would imagine they are engineered for optimum performance.

however, as another poster said, if one has the extra money.
and would perform live.
yes, I would then.
running an acoustic trhrough a sophisticated PA is another alternative. Ive done that with excellent results.
