Bass Amps for Guitar?

IIRC, the old (51' I think) Fender Bassman was huge for blues players.

I don't know about todays bass amps though.

i have one of the last pre CBS blackface bassman (around 67 i think)
it screams, and from what i've heard is not something that would be cheap.
anyhoo i luv it and it still sounds great with the original speakers

I guess my question is will it sound too "deep" like a bass or is it just a soupped up guitar amp that can handle more vibration? Will it sound like a "guitar" or a bass?

depends on if it's set up to handle inputs from other than bass guitars. mine has 4 inputs, 2 bass and 2 "normal"
i have not looked at any lately but i bet they are still making them similar.
MF has that "zoom" thingy so you can get a look at the inputs on the models they sell. take a gander at some of those if they have the one you are interested in.

If you set the amp like you would for a bass you'll get a lot more low end than a guitar amp will give you. It won't sound like a bass, but more like a very powerful guitar. You should be able to make it sound more like a regular amp by cutting the bass and/or mids a little.

I looked through the manual. Interesting tone stack set up with the 4-band Eq, plus the shape function that allows additional tone shaping. Plenty of additional in's and outs various connecting possibilities. 12 inch speaker. Could make for some good experimenting to see what a person could get for tone out of it.

It depends on the amp, but they'll probably be pretty clean. Mine is, but it's meant to be a clearer amp.
