I want to start recording some stuff to my PC because I want to be able to manipulate my recordings and send then and things like that, But I have no idea where to start. I would like to plug my guitar directly to my computer. Besides an adapter is theyre anything special I would have to get such as programs, hardware, drivers etc etc.
thanx

i'm a mac guy... but when i was recording to pc... i needed to buy a new soundcard. Someone else should maybe pipe in here. :)
the thing i use for recording now is a Line6 pod which can directly plug into your computer to allow you to record... although now i only use it as a preamp for my Shure SM57 mic.
I just started playing around with this a little while ago. I'm very new to it. Check this thread for some good tips (I'll also bump it up for you).

Audacity is easy to use and free which means no nag ware.
I actually use it on my laptop and record through the microphone. Obviously not studio quality this way but it works for my use as a learning tool so I can listen to myself.
Big Al, does the Pod's usb allow you to go directly into the computer or is there some other software required? I also have a Mac. I have a 16G, but am looking to go direct into the Mac.
Thanks for any info.
