Chuck Norris invented Kentucky Fried Chicken's famous secret recipe, with eleven herbs and spices. But nobody ever mentions the twelfth ingredient: Fear!

I've heard of that technique. You set up the guitar for a pure tapping approach, almost like a piano. There is a very famous guitarist from the 70s who pioneered it, he would play two guitars onstage.
Very impressive, but I say just play the piano, for God's sake! :D
"Contrary to popular belief, Clapton is NOT God. The prospect that he is God probably had a large hand in driving him to drugs and booze. Thanks everyone."

i saw Grandaddy play at the Electric Factory a few years ago, and their guitarist was rocking 2 guitars at once. one was acoustic, the other a strat, and he had them both strapped on (one lower than the other). but, unlike the guy in the vid, he alternated guitars. it was still pretty neat.
You mean like this? :D
I wrapped a newspaper ’round my head
So I looked like I was deep
About the only way I play two guitars is similar to Nigel in Spinal Tap. Playing one while the other is strummed with the foot. I havn't quite got using the violin as a pick yet but soon.
One of the first Tales from the Crypt movies had an episode where the guitarist played two guitars at once.
Nigel (of Spinal Tap), I believe, played a fiddle on the guitar.
It was during their "Jazz" phase.

Matty: you mean Angelo DiBatio? He currently is doing some ads for Dean Guitars I believe, check out the 'Speed Lives' commercial for a laugh: that guy still looks and plays like an 80s shredder. :D
I use a different way. I have my equipment set up so that it sounds like more than on guitar playing at the same time. It's taken me years to perfect. What I do is have the equipment set so that all the different units sound just a little different from each other and then combined with just the right amount of volume to complete the total overall sound.

Joe: But doesn't that ultimately still restrict you at playing only one melody at any given moment? You could double it, use timed delays to created some extra harmonies but you can't really play counterpoint with two different melodies. Or am I missing something?
Does that remind anybody else of the Stick.
It's a neat video, but a gross tone.

That's an old video of him. He's actually gotten a lot better at that double necked guitar. I have a lot of respect for Michaelangelo B. He want' to promote talent in music. There's a concept. The idea that rock stars could actually play instruments better than the average guy. That an "artist" could actually play an instrument at all is becoming a rarity. More often now are "DJ"s. Okay they can drop a needle. Somehow this is now considered a talent. And, scrubbing (scratching as most people call it) is a skill? Whatever. I say the world needs more Michaelangelos and fewer DJs. Just my opinion. End of rant.
Regarding the Mario Theme: That's generally played on one guitar. There was another video of some other hair dude playing it on one guitar, though not as fluently.
i thought that double guitar michaelangelo batio video was tasteless, gimmicky and boring. it's almost laughable how bad it is. it annoys me in ways i can't even begin to describe.
I watched some of his other videos on youtube and was equally bored. what's so special about this guy's music??? it's just useless pomp and circumstance. nd so far, every video i've watched of him sounds the same. i see no musical substance.
dj scratching's actually pretty hard. it's hard to specify what makes a good DJ, but if you hear a bad one, you know how bad it is. i certainly can't do it.
Good acoustic double guitar song: Justin King - Knock On Wood. You can see a video of it at http://www.justinking.com
Yeah. I don't think we need to get into that discussion again. I'd like to refer this to the what makes a genius thread but again it would result in a losing battle on both sides. I don't personally believe there is a difference between talentless and talented DJ's just knowing what people want to hear and some minor practice. That being said, I suppose you could say that A & R guys and marketing staff are extremely talented musicians.
