Cool! And the relationship goes further than that - some new Boss pedals (made by Roland) are Fender amp simulators!!!

LOTS of very cool stuff coming out of NAMM this year. :)

Wow, those are some cool new inventions. 8)

Have to keep an eye out for them at GC or the like to check 'em out.

I like the idea of changing a tuning with a knob instead of doing it manually, I imagine people who can stand floyd-rose trems will like even more than I do

I wonder how they differentiate between two identical notes played on different strings though, as they'd need to be able to do in order to retune them by different amounts... very selective pickup I'd guess, it'd be interesting to know how well it manages it in practice.

It's got a Roland hex pup on it -- similar to that used in Roland guitars synths (a.k.a. Midi guitars) -- so nothing new there. If you look carefully at the VG Strat bridge you can see it there. AFA the virtual guitar/modeling guitar tech, Line6 has blazed this trail very successfully with the Variax line. But ... a lot of players would rather have a modeler built onto a 'real' Strat than on one of Line6's offerings.
