Fretless guitar?

Thought I'd revive an old thread here...I just pulled the frets out of my old Strat HM the other night and filled the gaps with epoxy. I'll probably sand it down and string it up this weekend...

I can't probably help you any but I play the viola (like the violin) and it's just position memorization mostly, I dunno if fretless guitars have dots or not but I do know they exist. However I bet you can get more notes because the frets arn't limiting you. They arn't really extra notes but just play them out of tune and it will be a new sound. But good luck on your search. Oh yah I've seen people play fretted violins... Those dirty cheaters!

Hey, I played viola too...from middle school all the way through univeristy. I've got a violin now, but wish I still had a viola.

yeah, I saw some dude in a guitar competition on TV a few months ago, maybe it was the same guy mentioned earlier, but he used a fretless guitar, and he won! (probably like 6-8 guitarists in the competition).
