I've recently seen on the net a Strat (unbranded) with a body made of acryllic glass. I was wondering
a) wouldnt this sound a bit dodgey as guitars are supposed to be made from wood??
b) lol it wouldn't it easily be damaged if knocked??
See-thru guitars are nothing new. The Dan Armstong Ampeg in plexiglass appeared back in the late 60's/early 70's. How do they sound? apparently good enough to be used for hard rock and metal. IIRC, Dave Grohl uses one quite a bit.

I recall Mason Williams playing Classical Gas with a plexiglass acoustic(with fish in it no less) when I was a kid!
Chuck Norris invented Kentucky Fried Chicken's famous secret recipe, with eleven herbs and spices. But nobody ever mentions the twelfth ingredient: Fear!

I had a Dan Armstrong Lucy Lucite. It actually had a warm sound believe it or not. Pickups I guess.
But I also saw another guy back in the 80s with a Plexi Strat. It was cool. I think Lou Reed used one for awhile.
Plexiglas is a little chip prone I think, but Lucite is a little...I want to say softer. The surface of the Ampeg was almost...well it wasn't brittle feeling and hard like glass if you know what I mean. Different material slightly.
And no deadspots caused by wood in consistancies. If I made a midi or synth guitar, if I could, I'd have it with a lucite or plexi body.
Best
But does anyone know anything about acryllic glass?
Lucite is a brand of acrylic. Above comment about Lucite apply to acrylic glass.
