I have a Blueridge BR-160 guitar and I believe the strings that are on it now are D'Addario EJ17. I'm wanting to change the strings before too long. Anyone have any recommendations on strings for the Blueridge guitar? Thanks!!

If you ask 20 people that question round here you'll get 30 replies.

In steels strings, D'Addario are good, Ernie Ball slinkys are poplar amongst the membership here, Rotosound are good, Fender are good, and the make of guitar doesn't matter.

In the nylon string market, D'Addario are good, Rotosound are not, Hannabach are the best I've ever used; the make of guitar matters even less.

Thanks for your response. I was thinking about trying out some Dean Markley's Blue Steel for acoustics. I've not really heard too much about those.

I have used Ernie Ball Super Slinkys (09) now for....ever.

When I finally satisfy my current GAS pain, I plan on setting it up for, and using Slinkys (10). Just to be different. :)

are your fenders fender bullets by any chance? I was gifted a few boxes of those and never used them all. they're supposed to keep strats in tune longer, due the shape of the bullet-end causing less fiction, but they kept snapping on me really quickly so I went back to Ernie Balls 10s.

Bullets for a while, and then Super 250s the last time. Heck, they do stay in tune great though.

Can some strings be harder to bend than other even if they're the same size?

When I got my guitar set-up, they changed the strings and I noticed it was harder to bend. But they put the same size as I had before (9-42)

I think I had some Ernie Ball string or d'Addario before the set-up

It might have something to with setup. Higher action ?

I like the D'Addarrio EXP phospher bronze the best, over Elixers.

It depends on the guitar.

I agree. I tried the Elixirs (both poly and nano web) and they were just too slippery. The EXP just lasts a long time and still feels good.
