Does anyone know? The Live program comes with a Toneport, which I own. I want to import an Mp3 backing track into Live, so I can solo over it. I just can't seem to figure it out!
Help is much appreciated!
Is it the Ableton Live Lite - Line 6 Edition SW you are refering too ?
Can Live Lite import .mp3 files ?
Or can it only import .wav files as many other recording sw ?
Then you need to convert your .mp3 backing track to .wav format before you import it to Live.

The toneport comes with Live Lite 4.5, which does not support MP3 import. It can only import .wav files. If you upgrade to a full version of Live (mucho $$), then you get MP3 support. I think started with Live 5.2. Unfortunately, Line 6 versions don't offer an upgrade . The other feature I really miss that is not in Live 4 is "count-in" support.
I know of programs which convert from .wav to mp3 (like itunes), not sure what program can convert from mp3 to .wav.

You can use the free sw Audacity to convert from .mp3 to .wav or vice versa.
I even think that windows Media player 11 can do that.
Or Google for .mp3 to .wav conversion and you will several free sw that does it.
