how do you copyright a song....just finished recording a real gem. someone told me that if you burn it to cd and send it to urself in the mail its copyritten. is this true? or do you have to pay money?

I don't think that will "copyright" it. I think that would only prove a date.
Just so you know, we have a Songwriting and Copyrights forum and there might be something down there now that could explain it for you.
You fill out a form, send it to the copyright office, and pay a fee.
You're in Canada? Go to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office
(US folks need to go to the US Copyright Office)
