on coated strings?
I only ask because I put a set of Martin .13s on my guitar on Thursday, and have adopted a rigorous regime of Fast Fretting the strings after playing. However, I've noticed since yesterday that the finish seems to have begun to wear on the B and E strings at the first, second and third frets, with some localised wear on the E at the sixth. (Which I can understand, because I use the sixth fret in the riff to Lou'siana Town, which is still in a state of recording pending.) (For those in the US, Fast Fret is a white mineral oil product- not sure whether I needed to state that, but I thought I'd best be safe.)
Thanks,
Shady
Take care,
Casey
I don't think Fast Fret itself will hurt your finish. It may encourage more sliding and bending, which will inevitably wear your strings, frets and neck in any case. Only way to keep a guitar unworn is to never play it.
