Anybody know of any other helpful mac software (I run OS X 10.5.7) for slowing down or isolating guitar parts from songs?

I'm running the same OS as you and Audacity, which is free, does everything listed on the splash page of your link.
So maybe have a look at it before you spend.

You can slow down the songs with Quicktime.

The original thing was The Amazing Slow Downer. Lots of programs will do that now.
