I seem to remember a while ago reading a post about partial capos... ie capos that cover one or more, but not all six strings....but I can't remember where it was....anyone give me a clue?
Has anyone got any experience of using these?
Anyone know if they're readily available?
I've got a nice piece of acoustic music together, written after I read the article on pedal points.....but it's just a little tricky to play, which I why I really need a partial capo....

Shubb makes several. I'm partial to the third hand capo.
yoyo, if we follow your ever present advice, we might as well shut down guitarnoise and just post a link forwarding to google. Enough google talk already. Besides, you should try really http://www.dogpile.com
That "Third Hand" capo seems to be what I need....thatnks for the link, Yoyo!!!
I could've tried search engines, but I've been around here long enough to know there's always someone who'll know EXACTLY what you mean....and more importantly, where to find it!!!!

using one of the regular kyser pistol-shaped capos, you can capo 5 or 4 strings just by clipping it on halfway. it works for me... plus there's alternate tunings. but the thrid hand capo's pretty cheap. i may get one some time down the road.

That Third Hand Capo is pretty interesting. Has anyone used any of the books from this company?
It's definitely the 3rd hand capo I want....I can actually play the notes I want without a capo,.but it's a hell of a strain on the wrist...I want to half barre the top E and the B strings at the 3rd fret throughout the song I'm working on...

Update....
(and an apology....forgot to say Thanks to Nick for posting that link to the 3rd hand capo, but we must've posted virtually simultaneously, and I found the 3rd hand capo by following Yoyo's link....)
I finished the song I was working on..."Catspaw"...last week's SSG assignment, and posted it on my Soundclick site...

The reason for the query about the partial capo should be pretty obvious when you see the chords I used....
...G C+9 Dsus4 Em7 A7sus4
E 3...3.......3.......3.......3
B 3...3.......3.......3.......3
G 0...0.......2.......0.......2
D 0...2.......0.......2.......2
A 2...3.......0.......2.......0
E 3...3.......2.......0.......0
On the Cadd9 and the Dsus4 chords, I fretted the bottom E string with my thumb....
You can see why I wanted to use a partial capo, I had to play the E and B strings with my pinkie and ring finger....and they never move throughout the song....
This was something I put together after reading the lesson on "Pedal Points" a while back....in this case the pedal points are the G note on the top E and the D note on the B string....
