I got this thing with my ibanez...I set it to give me a metal sound but when I use the humbuckers and put it to full volume I can hardly here the changes in chords...is that normal?
Oh and I practice with headphones most of the time.

Don't forget that it is a very mediocre amp. If you set the gain somewhat high it will always end up like a wall of noise, no matter what guitar you use.
Okay...I'll experiment a bit with the gain and see what happens...thanks

I'd think its the volume rather than gain. Smaller amps wont sound great or be clear at higher volumes
The problem with alot of music today is the very thing your are experiencing. Even with all the technique in the world, if you drive your amp too much, it will sound like poo through a motorized cheese grader. You don't need all the distortion. I run my distortion at around 3 to 4 and I get a crushing metal tone. Also, dont cut the mids. If anything, boost them. Your guitar will cut through the mix better and will just sound cooler( atleast I think it does).
The meaning of life? I've never heard a simpler question! Music.
Could getting effects pedals help? I need them for other things anyway, I'm hoping it'll help.
