Does anyone know anything about Powertabs???
Are they more accurate than other stuff on the web???
Am I missing out on something?
Do I have to download special software???
Yes, they tend to be more accurate. And you do have to download the free powertab editor. You can find a link to a download site here:
You'll also need winzip to unzip files. That too is a free download.

Powertab is software for notation. You can download the PowerTab editor from the web.
There's a PowerTab Archive that consists of transcriptions people have done. It's peer-reviewed, after a fashion, so if a tab is'nt very accurate it gets discarded. Overall, they tend to be pretty good, but they're still the work of individual transcribers... so tabs found there, as anywhere, will only be as good as the transcriber's skill.

One benefit with powertabs is you get both the tab and the "real" music. You also get to hear what it should sound like and if there is more than one guitar in the song you usually get all in one.
I use both regular and powertabs and go to the power tab if a) I can't find a regular tab and b) if I can't figure out the pattern or tempo etc..
And yes, you do have to download software but it is free. You can find a link to it in the freebie section of this forum.
power tabs are the only way to go :)
