Hey everybody!

I'm working on a song of mine that has a big blank spot between the second chorus and verse, which is just dying for a solo. I was thinking something along the lines of the solo in "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" as heard on George Harrison's Brainwashed, starting with guitar and ending with some sort of ragtime piano, by way of "Lovely Rita Meter Maid." I've studied these two solos to get the style in my fingers, but the only concrete things I can get out of it are trilled notes and the use of chromatics. How do I give my guitar and piano solos a ragtime feel?

I already have the chords and melody line for the solo, it's just a matter of getting it to bounce and skip. Any hints?

Walking bass line, with syncopated rhythm in the upper notes - in most ragtime, the bass keeps up a steady vamp while the treble does the real fun :)
